My visual DNA

Procrastinating

One thing I learned in life is not to procrastinate, atleast in living life and being happy. There were several instances, I have thought I will be happy after I get something. In school, I thought I will enjoy once I go to college. In college, I thought I will enjoy once I start my job. Now I am at work but I have different needs. Agreed, we need to have the next-thing in life and have to be worked upon to reach them. But not at the cost of the present. This procrastination ends nowhere. So guys, its now or it will be never.

Only idiots live to work.

If you make your work your life, you’re making your life into hard work. Like most people, I confused myself by looking at people like artists and musicians whose life’s “work” fills their time. That isn’t work. It’s who they are. Unless you have some overwhelming passion that also happens to allow you to earn a living doing it, always remember that work should be a means to an end: living an enjoyable life. Spend as little time on the means as possible consistent with achieving the end. Only idiots live to work.

Moron Terror

Kafeel, Sabeel seen as jokers than terrorists in UK...
These were very amateurish attacks. People did not plan it very well, the device was unstable, drivers according to eye witnesses erratic in their behavior. It was very, very strange. It seems to suggest that these were apparently were just self-starters, inspired by what they saw on TV..

This is what is Moron Terror.

Investment Vs Insurance

I have seen some of my friends investing in Life Insurance Corporation, Unit Linked Insurance Plan's etc just for getting into the 1 lakh mark of the investments in Tax planning. This is the worst step to take since Insurance and Investments are not the same. Let me explain.

I would rather call Insurance as non-endowment policies. Here the premium will be very less, but you wont get any money back, if you survive even after the tenure. In case of endowment policies, the premium will be very high but you would get the money back, if you survive at the end of the tenure.

A normal person would think what if I survive at the end of the tenure? and thats when they end up with endowment policies. If you know that you gonna survive at the end of tenure, why take insurance rather invest elsewhere. These are not good investments because the interest you would get out of a life insurance (endowment) policy is phenomenally lower compared to stocks, Mutual funds or even some state owned fixed deposits.

My tax adviser asked me to invest in one of the leading bank's ULIP and I was also tempted since he said after 3 years of lock in, I should be able to take the entire money I had invested (all the 3 years) out without getting taxed. But trust me thats was a worst mistake. The bank would take a major percentage of your investment as service charge for them and it will be even difficult to get what you had invested, leave alone the interest (from stock market) at the end of tenure.

So avoid LIC, ULIP etc as instruments for tax planning. If you are really keen on insurance take a non-endowment policy with a small premium, which you can wish to lose for every month of your life, just in case you survive at the end of the day.

Gandhigiri

Indian workers in the US have resorted to Gandhigiri after the American government offered and reversed its decision to provide them green cards. The immigrants sent boxes of flowers to US immigration authorities (USCIS) over the State Department's U-turn.

Here's the link.

Now I know what to do.

Problems - how to solve? BMP's way

If you ask Bangalore metropolitan palike (BMP) to solve a problem, you know what they do? They just eradicate the problem. Its easy.

1. How to solve the late night burglaries, rapes, assaults in bangalore?
BMP: Simple, ask people to go home early and stay there.
Result: All shops, Restaurants, Bars, coffee shops, literally everything goes offline at 11.30 pm in bangalore. Already its a lazy town, which wakes up very late as compared to mumbai or chennai.

2. How to solve harassment against women in late nights?
BMP: Do not allow them to work in the night.
Result: Women are not allowed to wok in Night. As a result, chances are narrow for the BPO's to hire women. One good thing is newspapers wont come up with headlines saying "Condoms found in one of the leading BPO in town". I dont know if they will still come with such headlines and give a different story for it.

Yet another one from our fellow citizen's thought process..

3. How to bring in discipline into students who are influenced by violence and vulgarity on TV and other media?
A mumbai based school: Issue a notice, asking girls and boys studying there not to touch or hug members of the opposite sex. (http://www.ibnlive.com/news/girls-boys-keep-distance-schools/42888-3.html)

I am writing this post, on effect of one of the news channel, which was discussing about the bangalore 11.30 deadline. These guys went to various pubs in the city and asked opinion from the pubbers there. There was a hot debate on whether we should allow it to function till 1 am or close it 11.30 itself. These guys were just talking about the pub business. Ediots they are. Let the pubs close down at 11.30, if the real issue is caused by drunkards (and driving thereafter) and let the restaurants, coffee shops stay. Just imagine a guy like me who wants to have some food, after a full blown working day and leave at 12 midnight. I wont even get a tea in this place. The news channel was analysing the situation as if only the drunkards get affected coz of the 11:30 closure.

And now bangalore govenment is thinking of banning the Race course. Not that I am into this thing, but why would these guys think like these. They have already banned dance bars, dance floors etc,. At the end of the day what would one do, if they want to do some leisure in bangalore. The only thing which is left is, these shopping malls and multiplexes.

These guys have forgot the goal of very existence of life. To live happily. Agreed, there needs to be certain rules followed for the welfare of all. But not at this cost !!

Future looks bright though!!!

4. How to solve trafic congestion?
Ban cars, bikes, bus and every form of transport, the BMP way.

My friend Ganesha - poor god !!!

I so happen to see this film in InOx chennai for the only reason that I didn't get tickets for any other movie on a Sunday afternoon. And as expected I screwed up big time.

Plot:
Father - Before ganesh was brought home, he gets into a trap in his organization coz of some corrupt loan officer. Our ganesha solves his problem, once he comes into home.
Mother - Before ganesh was brought home she gets sacked from her boss for some silly email-not-sent-to-his-client issue. Our ganesha solves her problem, once he comes into home. Trust me the reason for which this gal is hired back is even more sillier than she was originally sacked for.
Son - Doesn't have any friends before ganesh was brought home. Ganesha becomes his friend.
aunt - Gets into a MMS sting operation with her BF and obviously our Ganesha solved her problem too.
Ganguthaai - I don't even want to talk about her character. So irritating she is.

Script: worse
Music: Pathetic
Animation: ok.
Producer - I am thinking of personally sending him a ganesha idol to his house. Lets see if ganesha is willing to solve his problem, for the level he screwed up.

+ve: the small kid has done well
-ve: Script, plot, dialogs, start to end of movie, and most importantly Ganguthai (i think she is a serial actress) and the bgm which goes whenever she comes up in the screen. Gangguuthaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiii... yuck ...

You guys can say that I am judging it in the point of a 25 year old. But trust me there is nothing in this movie, which kids will enjoy, except for the shiv-parvathi-naradhar-ganesha animation sequence. So my friend Ganesha, Plz hear to the scripts before you sign up with any of these loser directors, who want to shell cash out of god and kids put together.

I hope Masand (CNN-IBN) will just skip this movie.

Awarapan

Just saw Awarapan. As usual the songs pulled me into the theater for this movie. Not quite worth it except the songs.
I personally have to credit this scene which turned into a more of a comedy scene.
The situation is that our emraan who was working under the villain and having a nice time in hongkong would have done all the following just to save a pair of lovers whom he just know for hours.
1) firstly emraan would have disobeyed the villain, who has asked him to kill his mistress (who is the love pair, which emraan tries to save in the later half)
2) He would have killed villain's brother and his son as well
3) Emraan himself would have got terrible hurt as part of the fighting sequences.

This is when emraan comes to the villain's place to get the gal and send her with the lover. And our villain just come close to emraan and would ask only one word.
WHHHHYYY? in a very subtle manner.
Trust me this was so funny.

And here you go.. Tera mera rishta for you...

SEX - Is it really late for us?

Its just co-incidental that both of these have come on the same day.

The world of Immigration

Guys,
I am again gonna start talking about this H1b thing today. I understand my blog becoming more of a place of immigration issues. Cant help. Off late I have been breathing, eating and sleeping with immigration.

This post is in conjunction with
http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/jul/04visa.htm

Let me tell you the truth. Everybody believes that the Desi small firm consultants eats up the share of h1b from the big IT giants. In reality, what are these big IT giants doing with so many H1b's? They are also doing the same thing as the small guys except that these big firms have much more reputation.

Small firm consultants:
For a fee, they get h1b's and then put these guys into some other companies after the actual interviews. They eat 40-50% of the money what the employee earns there.

Big guys like TCS, infy:
They get H1b's for their employees, even though many times that employee is never sent to the US. This is by large a means of retaining employees. The employee will day dream of going to the US someday but which will never happen. Even when they are sent, most of the times they work for some other project than they had initially had applied for the visa. These big guys also loot most of the money from the clients and pay a very small portion to their employees.

Bottom line: H1B visa's should be taken off. A UK visa equivalent of HSMP should be brought in wherein an employee is not tied to his employer. Probably we can have a maximum cap on this.

Guess what, I have been tagged...
Not that usual tag thing which goes on in the blog world. I am an Indian. And now Indians are tagged as prospective-terrorist. Thanks to Kafeel Ahmed and Sabeel Ahmed.
I don't know how many Indians life, you guys screwed up in these UK terror plots.
