Just saw Awarapan. As usual the songs pulled me into the theater for this movie. Not quite worth it except the songs.
I personally have to credit this scene which turned into a more of a comedy scene.
The situation is that our emraan who was working under the villain and having a nice time in hongkong would have done all the following just to save a pair of lovers whom he just know for hours.
1) firstly emraan would have disobeyed the villain, who has asked him to kill his mistress (who is the love pair, which emraan tries to save in the later half)
2) He would have killed villain's brother and his son as well
3) Emraan himself would have got terrible hurt as part of the fighting sequences.

This is when emraan comes to the villain's place to get the gal and send her with the lover. And our villain just come close to emraan and would ask only one word.
WHHHHYYY? in a very subtle manner.
Trust me this was so funny.

And here you go.. Tera mera rishta for you...

The world of Immigration

Guys,
I am again gonna start talking about this H1b thing today. I understand my blog becoming more of a place of immigration issues. Cant help. Off late I have been breathing, eating and sleeping with immigration.

Let me tell you the truth. Everybody believes that the Desi small firm consultants eats up the share of h1b from the big IT giants. In reality, what are these big IT giants doing with so many H1b's? They are also doing the same thing as the small guys except that these big firms have much more reputation.

Small firm consultants:
For a fee, they get h1b's and then put these guys into some other companies after the actual interviews. They eat 40-50% of the money what the employee earns there.

Big guys like TCS, infy:
They get H1b's for their employees, even though many times that employee is never sent to the US. This is by large a means of retaining employees. The employee will day dream of going to the US someday but which will never happen. Even when they are sent, most of the times they work for some other project than they had initially had applied for the visa. These big guys also loot most of the money from the clients and pay a very small portion to their employees.

Bottom line: H1B visa's should be taken off. A UK visa equivalent of HSMP should be brought in wherein an employee is not tied to his employer. Probably we can have a maximum cap on this.

These guys have done a fair job in researching about this H1B stuff and the raising number of applications for it year after year. I completely agree with them. And I can very much relate to it, as one of the deserving petitioner for the year 2006. Here are my views as a H1b applicant, ya still an applicant.

As most of the people in here, I also wanted to make some quick money for possibly doing higher studies in the US of A. One fine day I met one of my college senior online and he said he is on a H1B in the US. He also asked me if I would be interested and asked for my resume. The same day I got a call from this consultant and asked me to send over a couple of documents and 1000$ as a surety that I will join them in case everything (including the visa) goes through.

This money will be refunded once I join them. I thought it was fair enough. And I was tired of wooing managers appraisal after appraisal asking for a hike. It sure is a dog's life. So I did what the consultant had asked for. The date was sometime in May 2006. And the next day, after my consultant filed my petition, the 65000 visa for the year got finished. Last year it took around 55 days for the entire 65k to get filled up, but this year it ended the first day. All because of our beloved IT majors in our country who file H1b and will never send those to the US. A valid H1B visa is of no use unless otherwise the person is sent to the US, where he can shift to another employer after a minimum of 3 months payroll.

Now the half-a-year wait commences that is when the US CIS review your petition and sends a couple of documents over to the consultant. I will have to get these documents from the consultant and go to the visa interview. Ideally the work should commence on the October of every year for an H1B visa guy. But for me the visa documents came as late as November. And then THE DAY of my life came in. Its called the Visa interview.

The entire chennai embassy office looked crowded. The visa officer just asked me a couple of questions and gave the 221g form asking for more documents from the employer side. I saw a lot of rejects and 'more-documents' answers that day. These documents are to substantiate that there is really an employer, a job vacancy with specific job description, employer's Federal tax information and a bunch of other documents asking about the entire company history. My employer is yet to post me those documents. Until then my career will be a dangling reference.

This part of my life: Its called 'Waiting for ever'.

I think VISA is just luck or fate. I am a computer science graduate from one of the REC's and have a 3 years full time Non-fake experience in the IT industry. But still all it matters is the mood of the Visa Officer you are attending to. Generally chennai embassy is known for the rejects. Its probably because all IT folks of chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad flock there. A guy who goes to Delhi consulate is not even asked some basic question, but chennai embassy is really tough. Unless otherwise they are fully convinced they never say THE WORD.

The 221 form given to me asks for too many documents from the employer side like wage reports, project details, project marketing analysis, all employee names, their salaries etc,. Not to mention the fact, all of them have to be notarized. I don't know whether I will even get all these now.

There is another thing called 'Additional Administrative Processing' in short AAP. Its another way to make the visa applicant wait for whatsoever reasons. I have heard about people waiting for years on this. I just hope I don't end up with AAP if at all I get those documents.

Its REALLY a dog's life :-)

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth.He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please". The dog has money in its mouth, as well.The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog.So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing, the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button.Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable.

The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus. The dog then shows a ticket which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor.The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop.It opens the big iron gate and rushes inside towards the door. As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!", to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."Moral of the story..You may continue to exceed onlookers' expectations but shall always fall short of the boss' expectations.It's a dog's life after all.....!!!

So finally I am back to work here in b'lore.. past 10 days have been very hectic attending 2 or 3 interviews everyday. But I wud say it was a nice experience. It helped me find the capabilities of me.. Here is the list which I had done the interviews in 10 days.

One thing I dont want to do in my life...

Is to make it complicated. But god doesnt want me to find solutions for easier problems. He always give me problems which are complicated, complex and certain times np-complete ones. Infact its good. Thats the way I learn things out. I dont know whether I will be in such a complicated situation in my life as I am now. This is the worst I can go I guess. I am jobless from day after tomorrow. You heard me. I am an unemployed youth from 30th DEC. And I cant go and apply for interviews unless and otherwise I get my visa thing cleared. To make it even worse my consultant informed that the paper work can drag to feb. Its really great. I love my life. :-)
